Disturbed Frontman Side-Project to Feature All-Star Lineup
By: Gary Graff
1/14/2013

Disturbed
frontman David Draiman's new project, Device, has become even more interesting with his announcement of an all-star lineup that will be joining him in the endeavor.

Among those on board are System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows, Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Black Country Communion vet Glenn Hughes.

The live version of Device, meanwhile, will include Draiman's creative partner Geno Lenardo from Filter, Eve To Adam guitarist Virus and drummer Will Hunt of Evanescence and Dark New Day. Despite the firepower, Draiman tells us he's a little apprehensive about becoming another solo refugee from an established band:

"I'm concerned about that, to be honest. I think too many people have tried an failed, and I think that the number of artists that have done it and been successful at it you can count on one hand. And I would never want to stymie my person or my growth individually by doing something just for the sake of doing it...It would really have to be something special. It would have to be something that is worthy of what Disturbed has built."

The first Device single, "Villify," is due out in mid-February, and Device is filming the video for it this week. Draiman has said artwork for the album will be coming soon as well. The album is set for a tenative release of April 9.
