Halestorm was certainly gratified with its first Grammy Award on Sunday night (February 10), winning in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category for its hit "Love Bites (So Do I)." But frontwoman Lzzy Hale tells us that the group was keenly aware of the history of that category, where Jethro Tull famously beat out Metallica and others in 1992:
"It's the first thing my bass player said -- 'Well, Jethro Tull and Metallica.' It's cool. I was looking at all the categories and wondering where would they put us, anyway. The fact that's we're in this Hard Rock/Metal Performance, our competition, the only one there that's maybe our peers are Lamb Of God. Then there's Marilyn Manson and Iron Maiden...It's really flattering. We kept saying, 'Who screwed up and put us in there?' It's awesome. For whatever reason somebody wanted to make an example and we're glad they did."
Halestorm gets to enjoy its Grammy at home for a couple of weeks before starting a short European run on March 10 in Cardiff, Wales. The group headlines the HardDrive Live Tour beginning April 12 in Denver.
