AC/DC Brew Released in Germany
By: Ray Hidalgo
2/28/2013

First it was “Let There Be Rock.” Then it was ‘let there be wine.’ Now, at long last, AC/DC has declared, ‘let there be beer.’

In their second venture into the alcohol business (the band released a well-received 4-wine selection in 2011), the high voltage Australians have given their fans a new beverage to drink up at a noisy pub, in your recliner after a long day of work, or with the group’s hollering anthem to reckless abandon, “Thunderstruck” in the background. We just wanted to add that ‘thunder’ is mentioned in the song 24 times.

AC/DC Premium Lager Beer is 19.2 oz. of German lager, 5 percent of which is alcohol. According to the beer’s official website, the brew, “fires up your tongue like TNT, comes with a great beer-loving taste and is brewed in accordance with the Rock`n Roll manifesto of 1973 and the German purity law of 1516.”

We’ve never heard of any such manifesto, but Germany definitely doesn’t mess around with beer.

So far, AC/DC’s foray into adult beverages has gone well. Although the new brew has competition since KISS, Motorhead, Whitesnake, and Warrant have previously released their own beer labels, the band’s $17.99-a-bottle wines appear to have been a hit.

As promising as the band’s lager sounds, however, don’t get your mugs or solo cups out quite because it’s only available in Germany with no mention of an American debut. Nonetheless, we can’t wait to take up AC/DC’s offer to “Have A Drink On Me.”
