Fans have been rejoicing at the news that metal heroes Metallica will bring back their hugely successful Orion + More Music Festival once again this year. However, Danish drummer Lars Ulrich expressed doubt that the band would be playings albums like Ride the Lightening and the Black Album in their entireties like they did at the festival last year.
Ulrich recently told Revolver Magazine, “If I was a betting man, which I’m not, I would probably not put too much money on that. I think you’ve got to be careful that it doesn’t become something that people expect from you every year, especially when you only put records out every five years like we do.”
While the 30th anniversary of their revolutionary debut album Kill ‘Em All is fast approaching, Ulrich admitted the band is still unsure as to whether or not the band will perform the LP's full tracklisting in celebration.
But, when asked precisely why Metallica decided to give Orion another go this year, Ulrich laughed, “We had a great f---in’ weekend, and it seemed like everybody else had a really fun weekend. I don’t think it had to be much more intellectualized than that.”
Newly relocated to Belle Isle in Detroit, MI, the rock heavy festival runs from June 8th -9th and will feature Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, FLAG (the latest reincarnation of Black Flag), and many, many more.
