Scott Weiland continues to maintain that his recent and very public firing from Stone Temple Pilots has been blown out of proportion.
The singer tells Spin magazine that, "Nobody in the band can be fired. No one's ever fired anybody, and no one's ever quit the band. There are some issues that have to be worked out with STP, but they're the same issues that have been going on since the end of the last tour. Behind the scenes, it's really not anything different than what was going on before."
STP's other members announced on February 27 that the singer had been fired from the band, and Weiland issued a statement immediately after contesting the idea he could be terminated. Just prior to that, he had told Rolling Stone magazine that he and the other group members were divided about STP's future plans, with Weiland wanting to work on new material while the others wished to tour.
Weiland noted to Spin that the controversy "has taken on its own life."
Meanwhile, he's continuing his Purple To The Core Tour with his own band, the Wildabouts, which is booked through March 29.
