The members of Guns N' Roses can't seem to get their stories straight about whether or not they're planning to record a new album.
In a February interview with Adelaide Now, frontman Axl Rose was asked whether GNR would release a record this year. His response: “I can give you a definite maybe.”
Guitarist Ron Thal however, recently sat down to a live chat at the 2013 National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show and had a more ‘definite’ but less encouraging answer for fans.
“You know what?! Just forget about a new record until it happens. I mean, I can't even begin… How long have we been talking about a new f***ing record? And I'm the only [one] that doesn't bulls*** you people about it and I say, no, we haven't been in the studio together; no, we haven't started writing together as a band," he stated.
If you’re the glass half-full type, keyboardist Dizzy Reed also weighed in and told the Maitland Mercury this week that “there’s a lot of material that is in the can and there’s a lot of ideas that we’ve been throwing around…it will happen,” he said. “It will happen quicker than the last album, let’s put it that way.”
We should add that said album, “Chinese Democracy,” was released 15 years after 1993’s “Spaghetti Incident” in 2008, so taking extended breaks between their studio time isn't something that's uncommon in the band.
Although fans are probably scratching their heads over the lack of concrete dates for a new release, GNR will still be getting rowdy down under with ZZ Top for the 2013 Guns N’ Roses Tour in Australia beginning on Saturday, March 9th in Perth.
