It’s that time of year again. Pour a pint, kiss ‘em if they’re Irish, wear your green with pride. St. Patrick’s Day is here and with that comes the high of knowing winter is close to over and spring has nearly sprung! Opening day baseball is so close that fans can smell the fresh cut green grass.
To help get you in the mood for the festivities, we’ve made a list of the Top Five Green Things that Rock!
1. Green Day
Okay, okay, so they’re not TECHNICALLY green. But when you’re talking about green things that ROCK, this punk trio can’t be left out. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool have been kicking out awesome tunes since the early 90s and continue to do so today. In 2012, they released the ambitious album trilogy entitled Uno! , Dos! Tre!, and are currently in the midst of a North American tour.
2. The Hulk
As the color of many things in nature, green is often thought of as peaceful …but not when it comes to the Hulk. Chalk it up to gamma radiation, but this enormous member of the Avengers has a pretty short temper and some serious anger problems. If he’s on your side, expect an immensely powerful ally…but if you tick him off, well…Hulk smash.
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
These green heroes were named after influential artists from the time of the Italian Renaissance, but we often found ourselves more interested in the foursome’s ability to battle crime with marital arts, their love of weird pizzas, and their resident sewer hangout. Whichever way you slice it, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Rafael will always be the coolest turtles around.
4. Money
Literally nicknamed “The Green Stuff,” money makes the world go round. Whether you’re making it, spending it, or taking it and running (we’re looking at you, Huey Lewis), we all want more of it in our pockets. Pink Floyd even dedicated an entire song to it! Now if we could just finally figure out how to make it grow on trees…
5. Green Beer
Beer is nice. Green beer, especially for St. Patty’s day, is much nicer. It doesn’t really taste that much different, but why not literally go with the flow and run with the color of the day? Despite popular belief though, its hue doesn’t make it any healthier (depending on your definition of the word, of course.)
