Random Acts of Pizza is a community on the website Reddit.com that facilitates the sending and receiving of pizzas between strangers, because... who doesn't like helping out a stranger?
Reddit helped out a 2- year- old cancer patient in LA through this cheezy outreach program over the weekend when a user posted a photo of a sign in the window of a hospital that said: “Send Pizza RM 4112″ with the headline: “Photo taken outside Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Smart Kid.”
More than 20 pizzas had been delivered to Hazel Hammersly before the hospital has to ask for the deliveries to stop. The pizza was enough to hold a party for the other young patients on the floor, as well as Hazel's family.
Hazel was diagnosed in April with Stage 3 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer found predominantly in young children and infants. She will soon begin her fifth round of chemotherapy treatment.
