Born Gary Lee Weinrib on July 29, 1953, in Toronto, Canada, Rush's bassist/singer turned 60 yesterday!
He got stage name because his Polish-born mother had a hard time pronouncing "Gary." Friends thought she was saying "Geddy." Eventually, even she started calling him "Geddy." It's now his legal name.
60 years leaves a lot of time for some pretty awesome experiences and firsts in ones life. Below, bassist/singer Geddy Lee talks to Billboard about the musical firsts that shaped his life, along with some of Rush's musical milestones.
